ITS SNOWING

AGAIN!!!!! and there was only like a 10% chance this morning and they said if it would snow it would only be intermitent and wouldn't cause much fuss!!! LIARS!!! ok that was a little harsh but it is snowing like CRAZY.. luckely the kids are already off to school and "they" say it will be over and done by the time they are getting on the bus to go home but COME ON!!! we are into the 2nd week of SPRING??? so i'm off to get dressed and try to brave it because Ben's picking up the crown molding and beadboard today and i've just realized i need more paint i know Ben could pick up the paint and the molding at the same time.. well the molding (which we found a GREAT deal on.. if it's still there cross your fingers..my car wouldn't be big enough for the molding over the weekend and the wind was blowing we decided not to chance it on top of my car.) is at Lowes and we found out over the weekend Lowes doesn't carry Bear paint and thats what all the other window and baseboard molding is so i'm thinking we probably need to stick with the same stuff or we'll learn a long and expensive lesson! so Home Depot is closer to the house and Lowes is on the way home from work for Ben... Maybe, Maybe this can be my last trip to a hardware store for a little while.. after we are done with the hall and the molding we are taking a short break from home improvement mostly for our wallet to cool off!
so thats my rant for today.. i think i should change the title of my blog to "Ky's Rants" ive been a bit negative lately for that well i could say i'm sorry and i probably WILL be at some later day but i'm not there yet...

Fox Family Naked DAY!!!

So in my PERFECT world i could declare a Fox Family NAKED day when i get every stitch of laundry done and the only things dirty are what everyone is wearing right NOW, whats a mom to do.. i am so freaking ecstatic that I've gotten it all done but i know it will only last a few more hours until they all get up and fill the hampers again!.. i suppose a more publicly kind thing would be to just insist that my family wear the same thing for the next week so i could relax and pop bon-bon's but really if there were a way i could release my family out to the wild with out the scoffs and scorns of anyone who would see a perfectly good family going around naked i would TOTALLY do it!!! Hmmm could this mean that i am sympathetic to the Nudists?? could that be the movement.. a fear of laundry rather than a hippie attitude towards modesty... Hmmm things to ponder.. no worry for anyone the Fox's won't be naked anytime soon. it's TOO DANG COLD!! haha!. frankly the sight of me would distract from the others anyway (and NOT in a good way!)

STILL SNOWING...

another snow day.. another day of fighting kids who LOVE to argue the total injustice of their very unfair mother who insists that rooms have to be clean prior to the TV going on.. frankley it's now 12:30 pm and the TV still hasn't come on.. i've gotten LOTS done! at least 5 loads of laundry, and put it all away.. i fixed the slip covers on the couches and now i'm catching up on my e-mail.. who says locking the kids in their room is BAD??? we have hit crutial moment of lunch time where i'm getting yells and tears that i am STARVING my middle son but i have developed thick skin and i know the 4 or 5 left over pancakes he had this morning will get him through at least a few more hours...
so if you've ever wished to live where you can witness the quiet snow.. take a page out of my book.. it snows 6 inches after spring is supose to already be here HA!

Trauma or Drama??

Well yesterday after homework was done the kids wanted to play outside (i guess our promptings to go explore saturday were fruitful afterall!) they get all their gear on (with out complaint i might add!) and the 3 of them go out... we don't hear anything for a bit and i'm taking glance outside periodically to see if i can see where they are etc.. then i see Hunter and Bradley together with out KayLea going off into the woods.. i'm looking around and KayLea is heading for the house except there is kind of a high snow bank she has to climb up to get to the back door (where she is aiming to go) i watch her to make sure she makes it up ok and she is kind of stopped and then we see the crying... she got stuck... SHE IS FINE!!! but the issue was what if we didn't actually SEE the boys take off with out KayLea she would have been stuck in the snow crying (we didn't actually hear her crying we saw her distressed look etc.) so the boys got a good "talking to" ok there was yelling involved, but they finally realized what could have happened they apologized to KayLea and us etc. etc.. KayLea milked it the boys felt they were justified because she said she was going to the house.. they now know they have to walk her INTO the house etc.. but it was quite the drama for a short time...
so thats the story for yesterday...
we are suppose to get snow tonight and then again through friday URGGG!!! we really can't have another snow day!!! the kids are already going to school until June 20th because of all the snow days and we havn't even hit flood season where we get at least a few more days because the busses can pass flooded streets etc... they already postponed Scout camp to the week of July 4th because some wards in the stake have already gone to the last week of the month (when Scout Camp was origionally scheduled) and we are very close to having to go that week as well!
i was told on Sunday we are about 3 weeks away from no snow.. frankley I DON'T BELIEVE IT!!! but i'll be ever the optomist! ya right!

Cabin Feaver!

Ok so we have offically hit critical mass where the cold season is concerned! the Kids on Saturday wined for a good half hour that there was NOTHING to do.. we suggested going outside it was a Beautiful sunny day but when they asked if they STILL had to wear their snow gear and it was an astounding YES! because there is still several FEET of snow on the ground and even though it was sunny the SNOW was still cold and they would get soaked in a matter of seconds.. they wined and wined that they would get so hot (it was true!) and why did they have to weare all their gear etc.. so FINALLY we coaxed them to go explore outside.. since most of the snow around the creek was melted at least they could see the edge of the water to stay clear (before we had told them they couldn't go anywhere near the creek because we couldn't tell where the water started and they could easily fall in) so they got some good exploring in.. so they are beginning to think they love where we live (not that they didnt before but their parents were so paranoid about the creek that hey were very limited to where they could go)..
So i've been told we should be done with all the white stuff in the next 3 weeks or so.. Boston doesn't even have any snow banks on the side of the road and have actual flowers growing on the Temple Grounds so there is HOPE.. a lady in our ward is the Town Clerk for her town so she gets all the nifty statistics and evedently March has the highest suicide rates of any other month almost by double! and i could believe it! the snow just gets so AWEFUL and UGLY, dirty and YUCKY! but no worries of slitting my wrists today anyway i have too much to do!
tats it for now..
we had a fun Easter.. i'll post pic's on Wednesday at the Library!

Ok so I have to confess i'm a little SAD!

So last night along with having to be in 2 places at once and getting a Parking ticket in one of those places URRGGG! i had to go register KayLea for Kindergarden.. i am pretty excited about her going to school and she is excited about shopping for new clothes (funny i know!) but she's my last kid my only consulation is that its only half day kindergarden but i got a little teary in the car rushing to Hunter's choir concert.. i have moments of feeling "what willl i do?" then i look at my house and think "i'll have no trouble keeping busy!"
i'm sure there is more to come with this story! but there you go!
ta ta for now!

we are ALMOST done

So i'm at the Library today and so i'm taking advantage of the high speed internet and posting some pictures of what we've been up to inside the house.. the green room is the backroom/den area.. the yellow is the living room.. i only have 1 wall to finish in the yellow room and its the one behind the huge entertainment center so i think that will wait until Ben has a day off so he can help me move it..

you have to excuse the pile of junk in the green room, again i have one more wall to go in the yellow room and thats the picture's etc.. that will go in there and the hall... i am so glad we are almost done.. all i have left is the hall and i've taken off the first layer of vinyl wallpaper and decided we are going to put up bead board paneling.. it's not much probably could do it with one sheet i'll take some more pic's when i have the molding up and the hall done but you get the idea anyway...

moving mess??

Ok so we are moved in really we are but if you would see my freshly painted back room it looks like a disaster area.. for one day it looked spectacular! it was clean i even cleaned the carpet again (Awww to the carpet cleaner how did i ever live with out you!) then to try to not loose momentum i cleared out the living room that in the back corner had boxes of books and things i refused to put in their perminant spot because i knew i was painting.. what i didn't realize is that how much crud that little corner held! and there are no un used corners in the back room well there is but it's right in front of the closet i use as extra pantry storage so i knew i'd be moving it all every time i needed paper towels or what ever.. so here are some pic's of my demolition zone.. we actually decided to put on an "orange peel" texture because these walls have a million layers of wall paper on top of plaster so we are just going along and painting over again but it needed something to kind of mask all the 85+ years of age these old walls have.. i also decided after hasseling with the caked on mess of the crown molding in the back room that i'd pull it all down in the living room and start over.. Ben was terrified (frankley i was a little too but if i told him he'd never let me do it!) i'm not completely done getting it all down but it's actually coming down pretty easily and it's amazing how much you learn when you see just 4 layers of paper (just under the molding.. there has to be at least 4 more layers where the paint starts).. i wish i could say it was quant vintage paper but it's dang UGLY!!! and it did tare up the wall behind it in some places but i think the new molding will cover it up with out much hassel (famous last words hua!) so i'm hoping to get the texture done tomorrow and hopefully get the first coat up (we are painting yellow so it might take a few coats!) then of coarse there is still the window trim to paint.. THE BAIN OF MY Painting experience is TRIM painting.. but i did spring for the better paint so hopefully it might go on a little easier than the back room (lets hope!) I thought about jut leaving whats up but it's a flat dirty white (i'm sure thats wasn't the name of the paint the previous owners decided to put up but it was a rental so it's cheep flat not holding up AT ALL DIRTY WHITE!) so it wasn't an option..

Oh yea i've discovered the trick to posting pictures.. i have to take my camera from 12 MP to 3 so who knows if this will make me be able to post more pictures but i'm not usually taking pictures just for the blog it's usually for my obsession of scrapbooking (which i am WAY behind on btw.. for those who know me you know its SHOCKING) so i'll have to remember to turn it down for a few shots of what i take.. and also turn it back up (that will probably be more problematic)..

SNOW DAYS BE GONE!!!

Ok so yesterday it was announed on the scroll on the news that we would have a 2 hour delay.. stinks but we can survive! then channel 9 (our ONLY local channel) completely goes down, I send Brad out to the bus and he's waiting.. and waiting.. since i'm painting the last of the back room the computer is not plugged in etc.. and because our only local channel has decided to go AWOL i have to get the computer plugged in and then WAIT FOREVER for stupid dial up just to find out they changed their minds and there will be NO SCHOOL.. i'm assuming they just couldn't get the roads cleared in time.. we left the house around 10:30 to try to get to the Library (which was closed) and it was like driving through a Slush-ie but after we went shopping for a bit when we got back it was sunny and perfectly clear.. I'm getting a little tired of the snow if you couldn't tell..

on a Happier note we are Aunt and Uncle for the 4th time! Dillon Matthew Fox was born last night to Matt and Shannon Fox (Ben's bro and wife).. i'm going to TRY hard to post a tiny pic we'll see if it works! Baby and Mom are doing fine and Daddy looks VERY Proud!
On another note my being able to post these tiny bits has now given me the confidence to maybe get some tiny pic's up of our house and what we are doing inside.. but i have some cleaning and re arranging to do before i do that so it may be tonight or tomorrow..

Things i've learned in 30 days of home ownership

* Painting IS an easy way to completely change a room and rolling on a new color is even kind of relaxing.. BUT... Trim and molding is the PITTS! i think i'm on 3 coats on one window cil and molding and i'm still not sure it's white enough!

* there is ALWAYS something to buy at Home Depot or Lowes

* even faux wood blinds are DANG expensive!!! so we are going bare down stairs for a bit.. i'm refusing to put the cheep one's up and it's driving Ben crazy!

* there's NO ONE to call when the basement flooded because the dry well my new BIG fancy washer drains down is frozen (we think!)! (ok it didn't flood but there was water!)... i take that back there is someone to call.... the PLUMMER but WE are expected to PAY him!!!

* paid the first payment and no buyers remorse!

i thought i'd be done with all the painting by wednesday when i can post pictures but now i'm not so sure.. i might be done with the ONE room i'm hoping to finish tomorrow.. and we are expected to get like 10-15 inches tuesday night so wednesday might be a wash for the library anyway.. so we'll see..
